Missing Idaho baby found dead by road; father in custody in connection with death of his wife

On Saturday, police discovered the lifeless body of 10-month-old Zeke Best in Idaho, one day after an Amber Alert had been issued for him. The baby’s father, Jeremy Albert Best, was apprehended under an arrest warrant linked to the death of his wife. The grim discovery occurred approximately 24 miles east of Idaho Falls when a hunter reported a man in a sleeping bag on the roadside, described as naked and making peculiar statements.

Jeremy Albert Best, the identified man, was the subject of the Amber Alert issued on Friday, suspected of kidnapping the child in Teton County, according to the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities located Best’s vehicle in an embankment off the road, where the lifeless infant was found at the scene. Idaho State Police and the FBI are among the agencies involved in processing the scene, with the investigation currently ongoing.

In addition to the child’s abduction, Jeremy Best is wanted in connection with the death of his wife, Kali Jean Randall, whose body was discovered in her Victor residence on Thursday. The Teton County Sheriff’s Office is treating Randall’s death as a homicide, as stated on their Facebook page. The crime scene is being processed, and an ongoing investigation involves Bonneville County detectives, Idaho State Police, and the Teton County Sheriff’s Office.

Jeremy Best is currently held in Bonneville County Jail and will remain in custody until his arraignment. As of Saturday evening, the jail could not confirm whether a defense attorney had been assigned to his case. The police expressed condolences, stating, “Our thoughts are with the family of the victims involved in this case.”
