UEFA Euro soccer games today: Times, TV schedule, scores for matches in USA

The Euro 2021 tournament enters its first full weekend of tripleheaders with three matches on both Saturday and Sunday.

After they watched Italy’s 3-0 thumping of Turkey in the tournament opener, Wales vs. Switzerland should be wide open with both nations playing for three points in Group A.

The other two matches on Saturday feature all four Group B teams, including the world’s No. 1 side, Belgium, traveling to Russia to face the hosts. Will home-field advantage be a factor for Russia as it was for Italy on Day 1?

Wales vs. Switzerland preview

You might have heard about Wales and its unlikely semifinal run at Euro 2016. That was a long time ago. Gareth Bale, the Dragons’ star player five years back, is turning 32 next month and Aaron Ramsey is 30 and often injured. Both are coming off average seasons by their former lofty standards.

This Wales national team is still competitive and wins games it’s supposed to win. But the Welsh lose games against the better teams like Belgium, England, France and Croatia. Switzerland (No. 13 in the world) is a better team with a better roster than the Welsh, and the Swiss are also on a six-game winning streak and recently tied against Germany and Spain.

The Welsh, who know how to keep games tight and low-scoring, need to play the perfect game and hope the bounces go their way. But it’s unlikely that a miracle run like 2016 is in the cards:

Odds & Prediction (Odds courtesy of DraftKings):

  • Switzerland -0.5 Asian Handicap: +108
  • Prediction: Switzerland 1-0

Denmark vs. Finland preview

Finland is debuting in its first major tournament and hoping it can be one of the feel-good stories of Euro 2021. But the Finns haven’t won a game since last November and they’re in a tough Group B. Finland opens by facing a Denmark team that since Sept. 9, 2018 has only lost twice, with both of those defeats coming against world No. 1 Belgium.

Especially since they’ll play all three of their group matches in the friendly confines of Copenhagen, many are tabbing the Danes as one of the potential darkhorse tournament winners (+2500 to win it, +900 to make the final). It’s also an opinion based on their roster: Denmark’s squad is mostly made up of pros who start for clubs in Germany, Spain, Italy and England.

This game is Denmark’s best chance to pad its goal difference in the jockeying for Group B positions against Belgium and Russia. The Danes won’t let it slip.

Odds & Prediction (Odds courtesy of DraftKings):

  • Denmark -1.5 Asian Handicap: +125
  • Prediction: Denmark 3-1

Belgium vs. Russia preview

How much will home field matter for Russia when they go up against the No. 1-ranked team in the world? The Russians have not exactly been tearing it up in international competition over the last two years and they also haven’t faced a Top 10 team in that time. The last time came against the same Belgium team in March 2019 and that ended in a 3-1 loss.

The Belgians didn’t even have Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne available for that one and they’ll be missing the Manchester City man for the opener (facial fracture). But Belgium’s roster is famously stacked and the Red Devils should find a way to get the job done against a weaker Russian team than the one we saw at the 2018 World Cup.

The hard-nosed Russians will definitely make life difficult (and hope to nick a goal on a set piece), but they’re not on Belgium’s level. The cream will eventually rise in this one.

Odds & Prediction (Odds courtesy of DraftKings):

  • Belgium to score more than 1.5 goals: -103
  • Prediction: Belgium 2-0
