The medal matches are nearly complete in both the men’s and women’s Olympic soccer tournaments with the semifinal stage played out on Monday (women) and Tuesday (men).

In Tuesday’s first semifinal, reigning gold-medal holders Brazil will look to advance to another final after narrowly edging a spirited Egypt side in the quarterfinals. The South American side will face 2012 gold medalist Mexico in the next round. Mexico beat Brazil for the gold medal in the 2012 Olympic final.

The four semifinalists in men’s and women’s tournaments are guaranteed to play in a medal match: the gold/silver tournament final or the bronze medal match for third place.
