Deshaun Watson trade rumors: Texans feel QB ‘has played his last snap’ for Houston

Deshaun Watson trade rumors: Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa emerges as potential target for Texans QB

Deshaun Watson has made it abundantly clear he is unhappy with the Texans. Now, it seems those within the organization think the Pro Bowl quarterback has played his last snap in Houston.

Said report comes from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who on Jan. 10 reported Watson’s anger level with the Texans was a 10, when it was at merely a 2 after the team traded receiver DeAndre Hopkins:

Watson, it seems, is happy to make his anger public as well, rather than in house. On Friday, he tweeted that he “was on 2 then I took it to 10,” a nod to Schefter’s earlier report. A later tweet would indicate that Watson may have been quoting lyrics to a rap song.

In any case, Watson’s anger stems from the way Houston handled its GM and, now, coaching search. Watson reportedly found out about the hiring of Nick Caserio — another Patriots product — on social media. He also reportedly wanted the Texans to interview Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy and 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh for the open head coaching position; the team declined to interview either candidate.

The question now becomes who the Texans’ primary trade partner would be in the Deshaun Watson sweepstakes. He would be an immediate upgrade at nearly every other team in the NFL, but would command a high price for his talents. The quarterback reportedly is considering a trade to Miami in return for second-year quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and a host of other assets, including the Nos. 3 and 18 picks of the 2021 NFL Draft. Other trade partners include the Patriots and 49ers.
