Cremation Services: What You Need to Know

The Cremation Association of North America expects close to 60 percent of Americans will prefer cremation by 2023. While many people are opting for cremation services, there is still a great majority that does not know what all a cremation service entails. Cremation is a personal choice, but it is important to know all the finer details in order to make the best decision for yourself or for a loved one.

Cremation Service Options

Unlike a traditional funeral, a cremation offers numerous memorialization options. At Kuzo and Foulk Funeral Homes, these are the cremation service options we offer:

  • A traditional funeral with viewing and cremation. Usually, the cremation follows the traditional funeral, and the cremated remains are either scattered, buried, or returned to the family.
  • A cremation with a memorial service. Here, the cremation follows a ceremony, which can occur at the crematory or other location. Typically, the ceremony includes the urn and additional memorabilia on display.
  • A cremation without the ceremony. A cremation without ceremony can be arranged for immediate disposition of the body. In most cases, however, there is no better way to start the grieving process effectively than to hold some type of ceremony. Ceremonies or “gatherings or celebrations” can occur at a church, a funeral home, or other location.

You have the choice to host the type of service you prefer. To help families make informed decisions, we take the time to educate you on your different cremation options as well as the memorial selections we offer, including cremation urns, urn vaults, and keepsake urns.

How Do You Know What Cremation Services Are For You?

Certain factors can determine whether cremation is the best choice for your family. These include:

  • Your financial capability
  • Your religion and culture
  • Your family traditions
  • Your preference

The Cost Of Cremation Services

The cost entirely depends on the service provider you select and the type of cremation service option you choose. Cremation can be much less costly when compared to in-ground burials. However, different memorial service options will have different associated costs.

For instance, at the Kuzo and Foulk Funeral Homes, we offer three types of cremation service options. Each comes in a different cost package. Once in a while, we help families with loved ones that have died out of state by arranging for the transfer to or from one state to the other.

Funeral costs vary depending on the type of service and merchandise selected.

Your service portfolio will determine the total cost for the cremation, which can be greater than for a traditional funeral.

Your Cremation Rights

The funeral rule gives you the right to buy your urns or caskets from third-party sellers, ask for the service price upfront, and use alternative containers for the cremation. Therefore, do your due diligence and know your options, compare prices, and settle on the cremation service that you prefer.
