Smell leads officials to storage unit where missing Florida mom was found shot: deputies

A 911 call reporting an odor led authorities to the discovery of the body of Shakeira Rucker, a missing Florida mother of four, inside a storage unit facility on Saturday evening. Officials revealed in a press conference on Sunday that Rucker was found with a gunshot wound in the unit located at 2400 Wiggins Road in Apopka around 5 p.m. She had been reported missing for a week. The prime suspect in her disappearance and murder is her estranged husband, 51-year-old Cory Hill.

The authorities do not believe anyone else was involved in the case. Hill is already in Orange County Jail on four counts of attempted murder for shooting at a former girlfriend on Nov. 12. He is on a no-bond status, and the sheriff stated that he will be charged with Rucker’s murder. The search for Rucker spanned four counties: Seminole, Lake, Orange, and Polk. Authorities expressed condolences to Rucker’s family and highlighted their dedicated efforts to bring closure to the case.
